Introduction

You are invited to take part in a research focus group. This form explains what the research is about, what taking part involves, how your information will be used, and your rights as a participant.

Please read this information carefully. You can ask any questions before deciding whether to take part.

Purpose of the research

The purpose of this research is to understand people’s views, experiences and feelings around charities, nature and gifts in wills.

We are particularly interested in exploring what makes this topic feel clear, meaningful, relevant or off-putting, and how people respond to early messaging ideas for WWF.

The research findings will be used to inform future campaign development.

What taking part involves

The focus group will take approximately 90 minutes and will take place online.

The session will be audio and video recorded so that the research team can accurately review, transcribe and analyse what was discussed.

You do not have to answer any question you do not want to answer. You can take a break or stop taking part at any time.

Voluntary participation

Taking part is voluntary. You can decide not to take part, or withdraw from the session, without giving a reason.

How your feedback will be used

Your responses will be used for research and insight purposes only.

Your feedback may be summarised in research reports, presentations or internal materials shared with WWF, RAW Audio Ltd and Harness Ltd.

Short anonymised quotes may be used in research outputs. Your name will not be used in reporting and you will not be identified unless you have given separate explicit permission.

Video clips, audio clips or screenshots from the session may only be used internally for research and campaign development purposes. They will not be used in public campaigns, marketing or external communications.

Data protection

WWF is the data controller for this research. This means WWF is responsible for deciding why and how personal data is processed for the project.

Harness Ltd and RAW Audio Ltd are acting as data processors on behalf of WWF. This means they will process personal data only for the purposes of running, analysing and reporting on this research, and in line with WWF’s instructions.

Personal data collected as part of this research may include your name, contact details, signed consent form, focus group responses, recording, transcript and relevant recruitment information.

Personal data will be used only for research and insight purposes related to the WWF Gifts in Wills Focus Group.

Recordings will be stored securely and deleted within 12 months of the session. Research findings may be retained for longer in anonymised or aggregated form.

Access to identifiable personal data will be limited to those who need it for the purposes of managing, analysing or reporting on the research.

Your rights

You have rights under UK data protection law. These may include the right to:

be informed about how your personal data is used;
access a copy of your personal data;
ask for inaccurate information to be corrected;
request deletion of your personal data in certain circumstances;
request restriction of processing in certain circumstances;
object to processing in certain circumstances.

Some rights may depend on the lawful basis being used and the stage of the research. For example, once findings have been anonymised and included in aggregated reporting, it may not be possible to remove your individual contribution.
