Research on Gambling Advertising & Safe Gambling Messaging

About this research

This research explores people's experiences of, and responses to, gambling advertising and safe gambling messaging. As part of this, you will be asked to talk about your own gambling habits and behaviour, and you may be shown examples of gambling adverts.

Some of the questions are personal and may touch on sensitive topics, such as how gambling has affected you, your finances, or your wellbeing. You are free to decline to answer any question, to take a break, or to stop taking part at any point, without giving a reason and without any negative consequence to you.

Your safety and wellbeing come first. If, having read this information, you feel that taking part may pose a risk to you, please do not take part, or speak to the researcher before the session begins so we can discuss this together.

Confidentiality

Your name and contact details are known only to the Magenta research team and will not be shared with the sponsoring client. Audio/video recordings and transcripts are used for research analysis; any material shared with the sponsoring client will have your name and other directly identifying details removed, and comments used in reporting will not be attributed to you by name.

I confirm that I am 18 years of age or over.

I am willing to participate in a remote research discussion or interview via MS Teams, as described to me by the recruiter.

I understand that this research involves talking about my own gambling behaviour and experiences, which may include sensitive or personal topics, and I am comfortable to do so.

I understand that I do not have to answer any question I am not comfortable with, that I may take a break at any time, and that I may withdraw from the session at any point without giving a reason and without penalty.

I understand that my incentive payment is based on my full and satisfactory participation as outlined, and that this may be adjusted if I do not fulfil the study requirements; however I understand that withdrawing due to feeling uncomfortable or distressed will be treated fairly and discussed with me by the research team.

I consent to my details being shared with the research team for the purpose of completing the research.

I consent to audio/video recordings from the research being used for market research analysis and, where anonymised so that I cannot be personally identified, being shared internally with the sponsoring client.

I understand that no information that could identify me will be shared outside the research team without my separate consent.

I am happy to be re-contacted about this research should any follow up questions or research phases arise, and that I would be fairly reimbursed for any additional opportunities I may participate in.

I understand that the research company (Magenta) will delete all footage and personal data collected during the project 12 months upon the completion of the project.

I confirm that, having read the information above, I do not feel that taking part in this research poses a risk to my wellbeing, and understand who to contact if I have any concerns before, during or after the session.
