Savanta and Roots Research each have their own data-protection responsibilities, and your participation data is handled only by Savanta from this point on. WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU TAKE PART
How long: Approximately 90 minutes.
Where: Online (via Microsoft Teams).
When: Spring 2026 – a specific date and time will be confirmed with you by Roots Research.
Recording: We will ask permission to record the session so we can write up an accurate transcript. Recordings stay within the Savanta project team and are deleted at the end of the project. Anything we share with Ofqual will be anonymised so it cannot be linked back to you.
During the session you will be asked to:
- Discuss your day-to-day experiences of communicating with students about malpractice in exams and non-exam assessment.
- Share your understanding of the relevant rules and consequences, and react to some example rules we will show you.
- React to draft language and messages that Ofqual is considering for future communications to teachers.
- Share your views on recent and upcoming changes to the qualifications landscape, including V Levels.
You have the right to: Withdraw from the research at any point, and to ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data, or restrict or object to how it is processed.
CONFIDENTIALITY AND DATA PROTECTION
Savanta: Savanta will store any personal data you share with us securely and in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). Your name, contact details and any audio or transcript recordings are kept on Savanta’s secure systems and are accessible only to the Savanta project team. We delete personal data and recordings at the end of the project.
Ofqual: Anything we share with Ofqual is anonymised before it leaves Savanta. That means names, schools, contact details and any other information that could identify you are removed before findings are passed on. Ofqual will only ever see anonymised quotes, summary findings and aggregated results — never your raw data.
Who might see your information: Within Savanta, only members of the project team can access raw data. Anonymised findings will be shared with Ofqual and may be used in published reports or summaries. Roots Research has access to the recruitment information they collected from you, but not to anything you share during the research itself.
YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
Taking part is entirely voluntary. You can choose to take part, decide not to take part, or change your mind during the research — no reason is needed. Choosing not to take part, or withdrawing, will not affect your eligibility for future research or panels.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- See the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate.
- Ask us to delete your personal data.
- Object to or restrict the way we process your data.
- Ask for a copy of your data in a portable format.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE RESULTS
Findings will be summarised by Savanta in a report for Ofqual. Ofqual may publish some or all of the findings on their website or in other publications. Any quotes used in reports will be anonymised — they will not include your name, school, or anything that could identify you.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting the researcher named at the top of this form. If you withdraw, any personal data we hold about you will be deleted, and your contributions will not be used in onward reporting (although anything already anonymised and aggregated may remain in the analysis).
