Which? Research on Home Improvements - Consent Form

What is this project about?

Thank you for agreeing to be a part of the research on home improvements by Which?. For this research we would like you to take part in a 60 minute guided online interview with a researcher at a pre-arranged time, likely using Microsoft Teams. The aim of this research is to gather real consumer stories and insights about their experience of employing a trader for home improvements work and their experience of taking any actions against the trader if things went wrong, helping Which? better understand and represent consumers' experiences.

What happens if I decide to take part?

A Which? researcher will be in touch to schedule an interview with you to discuss your experience.

If you choose to take part, we offer a thank you gift for your time and energy. You will receive £50.

Recording of my personal data

Which? will record your interview for analysis purposes only. Rest assured, your personal information will not be included in our analysis and will be handled in compliance with GDPR.. The recordings are also never shared with anyone outside of the research team at Which?. After analysis, all personally identifiable information is removed from the data, and the anonymised information is used solely for reporting purposes outside Which?. The recordings themselves will not be shared outside Which?. Your personal data remains confidential and is next shared.

The recordings and any captured details will be held securely on our servers and deleted after two years in accordance with GDPR.

I have a right to withdraw from Which?’s research at any time - even after the interview is over - by emailing [email protected] which would mean nothing I’ve shared will be used and all information I have shared with Which? will be deleted.
I also have the right to withdraw my data and ask for my data to be deleted at any time by emailing [email protected] .
I have the right to privacy - Which? do not share anything that would identify you (like name or addresses) with anyone outside the Which? research team or those who are facilitating your involvement in the research.
I will be contacted by Which? for the research period - Which? will use the details provided to inform me about the relevant research tasks. I am able to contact the researcher at any time if I have any questions.
My data will be held safely and only shared anonymously - What I share in the research will inform the work Which? do. Findings can also be anonymously published by Which? and shared online by Which? so that other people and organisations can see insights. Any quotes from me won’t include my name or any other information that would identify me.
Recordings (i.e. interview recordings and videos from tasks) will not be shared with others outside of Which? - There will be a video recording of my interviews and the researcher may take notes too. The notes and recordings will only be used, and shared internally, for this research project and for no other purpose.
My data will be deleted within 2 years - Once the video recordings of my interviews have been processed, the recordings will be deleted by Which?. Once the research project is finished files with my name and other identifying details will be deleted. Anonymised data is deleted within 2 years.
