Thank you for agreeing to take part in this survey!
Ipsos UK is an independent research company. We have been asked by the UK Government to conduct some research to explore financial crime. Along with thousands of other people aged 18 or over, we are inviting you to tell us about your experiences, if any, of being involved in or affected by a type of financial crime known as ‘money muling’. Money muling is when an individual moves the proceeds of crime through their financial accounts (e.g., bank accounts, crypto accounts) on behalf of criminals, sometimes in exchange for payment or other benefit. Some of these individuals move funds knowingly whereas others can be unaware that what they’re doing is illegal, and some may feel they have no choice.
Please note that this survey is for those who are 18 years old or above only.
Because the survey is confidential, we won’t know how you answer any question in this survey and won’t follow up on anything you say. If you want to report a crime, please report to the police by calling 999 or 101 if not urgent. After completing the survey you will be sent a support leaflet, which lists support organisations that you can reach out to if you require help with the topics mentioned in the survey. You can also report crime anonymously to Crimestoppers using their online form or by calling them on 0800 555 111.
If you would like to know more information about the aims of the research and how your data will be anonymised, please read the information sheet provided here.
