Personal Mental Health and Online Content Research

Are you aged 25 to 64 and living in the United Kingdom? We would like to hear from you.

We are inviting people across the UK to take part in an important research project about adult safety online.

Before you decide whether to take part, it is important to know that this study includes questions about mental health and about exposure to challenging online content, including content relating to suicide, self-harm and eating disorders. These are sensitive areas and may prompt you to reflect on your own experiences.

Taking part involves a short 15-minute pre-call, followed by a 90-minute online interview for those who are eligible. You will receive a £50 gratitude payment if you complete the full interview. Participants who complete the pre-call but are not invited to an interview will receive a partial incentive.

Why we carry out a pre-call

The pre-call is an essential part of the process for this project. Because the study involves discussing sensitive topics, we use this short conversation to ensure that the project is suitable for each participant and that they are comfortable to continue. It helps us confirm that people interested in taking part have relevant experience and are in a position where taking part feels appropriate for them.

When completing the application form, please answer as carefully and honestly as you can. There are no right or wrong answers. Each application is reviewed individually so that we can make sure the research is safe, appropriate and meaningful for everyone involved.
