Grassroots Youth Football Research

Do you have a child aged between 8-10 years who plays football in a local club? Or are you a volunteer, or part of the team staff, for a youth team? We need your help!

We've teamed up with the Football Association to support them with collecting match data from Grassroots Youth Football games between Saturday 10th October and Sunday 15th March 2026.

To do this we need the help of a large team of match observers to attend the games and tally information up events that occur during the matches. This data will then need to be submitted online after the game.

For each match observed, participants will receive £20 for Taking Part. In total, observers can submit data for 10 matches per person over the 6-week period.

We will pay each observer up to 10 matches that they collect data for, but we will not pay for any more after this as we need to ensure we capture a variety of matches from different observers across the country.

We're aiming to observe youth matches from Under 9's, Under 10's and Under 11's across the country so if you're engaged with your local youth team, get involved!
